Community Fridge
There is now a Community Fridge in front of the restaurant on the corner of 12th Street and 1st Avenue. This fridge is a partnership between Change Food, East Village Neighbors and S'MAC and is maintained by a team of volunteers.
The fridge & pantry were started in response to the growing need of fresh food during the pandemic for food-insecure individuals and families. We've had such an overwhelming response from people in need that the food is gone within hours of filling up the fridge and pantry. There have been many donors throughout the neighborhood who provide fruits, vegetables, bread, dairy and packaged meals.
We put refrigerated S'MAC in the fridge multiple times a day. If you feel so inclined to help out, please consider purchasing a meal (or more!) to keep the fridge stocked.
